#MyFSN Placemat

design for print, 10" x 15", 2017

Artists Tony Osumi, Kent Yoshimura, Tenaya Senzaki, and I were invited by the Little Tokyo Service Center to design placemats to build public awareness and support for community-led development of First Street North (i.e. the parking lots behind MOCA Geffen). The placemats will be used in select restaurants in Little Tokyo and distributed as posters.

About #MyFSN (My First Street North):

First Street North is the only historically designated block in Little Tokyo. Designated in 1995, the Little Tokyo Historic First Street District was placed on the list of National Historic Landmark Districts as a result of community advocacy and activism. Currently, the rest of the block serves as city and public parking. For the last 30 years, various city and community planning processes have been explored for the undeveloped portions of First Street North. Most recently, in 2013, a community-driven vision was developed as part of the formation of Sustainable Little Tokyo.
